Meet Oral Surgeon Dr. Reck

He attended Duke University in NC where he received his undergraduate degree studying biomedical engineering and biology as well as his athletic letter in Track & Field.

Dr. Reck went on to receive his dental degree from Howard University in Washington, DC.  Sparked by his interest in surgery and anesthesia, he completed an Oral Surgery Fellowship at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA while researching techniques in pain control.

Continuing on, he completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) residency at Temple University School of Dentistry and Temple University Medical Center.  At the end of his tenure, he had published 10 scientific articles.

Fulfilling his scholarship obligations with the US Air Force, Dr. Reck’s active duty assignments took him to Texas, Philippines, Japan and Florida. Of note, he was tasked to be a member of the healthcare team assigned to evacuate Clark AFB and US Naval Base Subic Bay in the Philippines. Typhoon Yunya hit landfall simultaneously as Mount Pinatubo erupted causing widespread destruction, which resulted in closure of the bases.

Dr. Reck continued his Air Force career as reservist serving at the US Air Force Academy as a member of the staff oral and maxillofacial surgeons and as a member of the teaching staff for the one-year general dentistry residency program. He retired at the rank of Colonel in 2015.

Dr. Reck entered private practice in 1996 at his current locations first in group practice then in solo practice. He has been actively involved in organized dentistry throughout the years. He has taken on varying leadership positions including Past President of the Colorado Society of OMS, Southeastern Colorado Dental Society and Southern Colorado Dental Study Club. Dr. Reck is currently serving as the Component Trustee of the Colorado Dental Association Board of Trustees.

Dr. Reck is married and has 2 children and a cat.  His wife and oldest daughter are both dentists and his youngest daughter is in a doctorate program studying Physical Therapy. His personal interests include running, swimming, cycling, and snow & water skiing. Dr. Reck was member of the USA Triathlon Age Group team competing in the Aquathlon at the ITU World Championships in Beijing, China. He recently successfully climbed to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro (19,341 feet).
